The oil to be dried at minimum temperature 90 C is pumped to a feed tank, from which it is sucked into the vacuum chamber via nozzles whereby the oil will form a spray. The moisture contained in the oil is evaporized and removed from the chamber by the vacuum generating equipment.

The equipment can be used in two different types:

1. Liquid ring type vacuum pump operating with a small supply of cold water
2. Two stage steam ejector system. The ejector system comprises of 2 ejectors and 2 intermediate direct contact condensers.

The dried oil collected at the bottom of the chamber is removed from the vacuum chamber by a transfer pump. The dried oil pump is prevented from running dry by a float valve fitted inside the vacuum chamber and allows oil to be re-circulated from the pressure side of the dried oil pump.

Air is prevented from entering the vacuum chamber by a float controlled valve in the feed tank.
